Quartz sand

Quartz sand is used as filter material. Quartz sand is combined with filter container to intercept particle impurities such as suspended solids colloid in water, so as to play a filtering role. It can be mainly divided into the following categories:

Pickled quartz sand filter material: Pickled quartz sand filter material is a hard, wear-resistant and chemically stable silicate mineral. Its main mineral composition is SiO2.

1. Ordinary quartz sand filter material: It is mainly used in sewage treatment. It can be used for three to five years. It is OK to prevent the loss of quartz sand. It is not important to be polluted, because in sewage treatment, sludge can be aerobic or anaerobic respiration to degrade pollutants in sewage.

2. Refined quartz sand filter material: it is used in pure water treatment. In the sand filter, it should be replaced within 2 to 3 years. Generally, after being polluted, the pollutants wrapped in quartz sand can no longer play a good role in filtering, so it can only be replaced. Quartz sand filter material has passed the Iso9001-2000 quality system certification.

It is stable in acidic water with neutral value and value within the range, but slightly soluble in alkaline water. The SiO2 increment in chemical water treatment shall not exceed 2mg/L.

Acid washed quartz sand filter material:

The color of quartz sand is milky white or colorless and translucent, with Mohs hardness of 7, brittle without cleavage, shell like fracture, greasy luster, density of 2.65, bulk density (1-20 mesh is 1.6, 20-200 mesh is 1.5, its chemical, thermal and mechanical properties have obvious anisotropy, insoluble in acid, slightly soluble in KOH solution, melting point of 1750 ℃

Why is quartz sand filter material acid washed?

Quartz sand is widely used in many chemical industries such as water treatment. In addition to its main component silicon dioxide, quartz sand also contains iron oxide, clay, mica and organic impurities, and the surface of natural quartz ore generally has a layer of molten iron to form a film. Compared with some fine industries that have strict requirements on iron content, quartz sand must be pickled when used in production to reduce the iron content in quartz sand. Pickling is mainly used to eliminate the adsorption on the surface of diatomite carrier of quartz sand raw material 'quartz stone' and reduce the need for pickling treatment of chromatographic peak delamination carrier before production and processing.
